Rental Terms and Conditions

1. Listings and Rentals
Listers are responsible for providing accurate descriptions, images, and pricing for their items. Listers must have the legal right to rent the items they list. Renters agree to use rented items responsibly and return them in the condition they were received, subject to normal wear and tear. Renters are encouraged to document item condition at pickup using the condition photo feature.
1.1 Maintenance and Service History. Owners are responsible for accurately and honestly updating the maintenance and service history for each listed item. Records must reflect actual services performed, including dates, descriptions, and costs. Falsifying, omitting, or misrepresenting maintenance records to make an item appear better maintained than it is constitutes a material breach of these Terms and may result in listing removal and account suspension.
1.2 Included Items. Listers are responsible for accurately listing every accessory and item included with a rental (e.g. chargers, cases, cables, remotes) using the "What's Included" feature. Rent Vibe does not verify the completeness of a Lister's included-items list. Rent Vibe will not charge a Renter for, and a Renter will not be liable for, any item that the Lister did not list as included with the rental.
1.3 Multi-Item Cart. Rent Vibe offers a shopping cart feature that allows a Renter to select multiple listings and check out for all of them in a single transaction. Each listing in the cart is booked for its own selected dates and is subject to its own rental agreement, security deposit hold, cancellation policy, and damage terms as if booked individually. The platform fee is applied to each listing separately.
2. Payments and Service Fees
Rent Vibe facilitates payments through Stripe. A platform service fee of 10% is applied to each rental transaction. This fee is added to the rental total at checkout. Security deposits, where applicable, take the form of a temporary authorization hold (not a charge) placed on the Renter's card at booking and released automatically 24 hours after the scheduled return date if no valid claim is filed.
2.1 Prohibition on Off-Platform Payments. All rental payments must be processed through the Rent Vibe platform via Stripe. Listers are strictly prohibited from soliciting or accepting payment outside the platform, including Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, wire transfers, cash, cryptocurrency, or any other method not provided by Rent Vibe. Violations result in account suspension, forfeiture of all platform protections, and potential permanent removal.
2.2 Optional Drop-off / Delivery Service. A Lister may optionally offer drop-off or delivery service. The Lister chooses a flat fee or a distance-based fee ($5 for 0–10 miles, $10 for 10–25 miles, $20 for 25+ miles). The delivery fee is added to the Renter's total and paid directly to the Lister; the platform takes no commission on it.
2.3 Promo Codes. Promo codes may be redeemed at checkout through Stripe. Each code may be used once per user unless stated otherwise, applies only to the rental amount and platform fee, and may not be combined with other promo codes or loyalty point redemptions unless explicitly stated.
2.4 Buy Now, Pay Later (Klarna). BNPL services are provided by third-party financial institutions under their own terms. By selecting a BNPL option, the Renter authorizes a credit check and agrees to repay the provider per their installment schedule. A failed BNPL payment does not relieve the Renter of their obligation to pay the rental amount.
2.5 Split Payments. A Renter may share the cost of a booking with another person via a secure payment link. The booking is not confirmed until the full amount is paid by all parties. If the second payer does not complete their portion within 48 hours, the split payment expires and the original Renter remains responsible for the full amount.
2.6 Recurring Rentals. When a Lister enables recurring rentals, a Renter may book on a repeating schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, 2–12 occurrences). The full recurring total is charged at checkout. The cancellation policy applies to the entire recurring booking as a single reservation.
2.7 Bundle Packages. A Lister may group multiple of their own listings at a discounted daily rate. All items in the bundle are reserved for the same dates in a single transaction. The security deposit hold for a bundle is the sum of the individual deposit holds.
3. Vehicle Rental Addendum
The following terms apply specifically to rentals of vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, watercraft, and other motorized vehicles).
- Driver's License. Renters must possess a valid driver's license and upload a photograph of it before taking possession of any vehicle.
- Insurance Responsibility. Owners are solely responsible for ensuring their auto insurance covers peer-to-peer rentals. Rent Vibe does not provide vehicle insurance.
- Mileage and Fuel. Owners may set a daily mileage limit and fuel policy. Excess mileage may result in additional charges; failure to follow the fuel policy may result in deposit deductions.
- Pre-Rental Inspection. A checklist documenting fuel level, starting mileage, pre-existing damage, interior condition, and tire condition must be completed at handover and serves as the baseline for return assessment.
- Damage and Liability. Renters are fully responsible for any damage during the rental period. Renters are also responsible for traffic violations, tolls, and parking citations incurred during the rental.
- Prohibited Uses. No illegal use, driving under the influence, unauthorized drivers, racing/off-road (unless listed for such use), or smoking in the vehicle.
4. Tax Information (W-9)
Listers who earn rental income may be required to submit a W-9 tax form. Rent Vibe collects only the last four digits of your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) for verification purposes. You are responsible for reporting rental income in accordance with applicable tax laws.
